Iowa CE Requirements

Iowa State Board Examiners DC License Renewal Requirements consist of 60 hours of continuing education every two years that must be completed between July 1 and June 30 of each even-numbered year. 40 hours may be taken online.

Continuing Education Requirements:


  • Licensed Chiropractors must take a minimum of two hours every two years in professional boundaries regarding ethical issues related to professional conduct that may include but are not limited to sexual harassment, sensitivity training, and ethics.
  • Licensees must keep their certificate of completion for continuing education for 4 years.
  • No hours of continuing education can be carried over into the next biennium.

Note: Those persons licensed for the first time are not required to complete continuing education as a prerequisite for the first renewal of their licenses with the exception of two hours in the content areas of Iowa Administrative Code, 645—Chapters 40 through 46 and Iowa Code chapter 151.
